About the Community Advisory Council
CAC Through its work, the Community Advisory Council strives to develop stronger connections between the station and the communities it serves. The Council invites the public and community groups to provide feedback on station programming. Additionally, the CAC aims to inform the station’s program development by providing opportunities for community organizations and groups to present and discuss issues of concern for their constituents.

The CAC is pleased to have the station’s senior management staff attend and participate in the meetings. In addition to ongoing feedback, the CAC prepares a formal report for presentation at the Annual Meeting of Chicago Public Radio’s Governing Board.

The Community Advisory Council of Chicago Public Radio (WBEZ) originated with the passing of the Public Telecommunications Financing Act of 1978, which mandates the establishment of a council “broadly representative of the communities served by Chicago Public Radio.”
