Mixed-Income Communities Bring Neighborhood Changes

But some worry that change is only gentrification.
Mixed Income, Mixed Blessing
Around the city, high-rise public housing buildings are being replaced by so-called “mixed-income” communities. The new communities are part of the Chicago Housing Authority’s billion-dollar plan to deconcentrate poverty. Thousands of people have been removed from CHA homes. Chicago Public Radio’s Natalie Moore spent time at Oakwood Shores on Chicago's South Side, one of these new communities. In a three-part series, she reports on whether the new living situation has improved the lives of CHA residents.

Read more about mixed-income communities at The Chicago Reporter.
