Two Chicago Public Schools teachers were arrested last week for stealing computer printers during a daylong training session. Chicago Public Radio’s Jay Field has more.

Last Monday, a truck driver noticed some things missing, as he made a delivery to a district training center.

Security camera footage showed Carolyn McBride, a teacher at Bond Elementary School, removing two printers from the truck.

After an investigation on-site, police arrived and arrested McBride and Angela Smith, a teacher at Northwest Middle School.

Larry Poltrock, the top lawyer at the Chicago Teachers Union, says one of the teachers has already called the union for legal assistance.

POLTROCK: Usually what happens is, after there’s an investigation, if there is found to be some credence to it or something—sometimes they remove the teacher to a AIO headquarters or some other place where they would do teaching work, but not teaching duties.

As of now, both teachers remain on the job, pending the outcome of an investigation by the Board of Education.

I’m Jay Field, Chicago Public Radio.
