Hot Dog Controversy...in Chicago?

A hot dog restaurant now under construction is causing controversy in Chicago, of all places. Some residents in the city synonymous with sausages are fighting the new southwest-side eatery.
The restaurant would be a second location for Express Grill, an all-night hot dog stand from the old Maxwell Street Market. Some businesses in the Pilsen neighborhood aren't hungry for the new neighbor. Bakery owner Carlos Chavarria says it would bring traffic, loud customers and garbage.
CHAVARRIA: My son loves hot dogs. I love hot dogs. It's not the issue. It's not one business versus another. It's about a neighborhood concern about the potential chaos that would be brought forth with this kind of establishment coming in.
But the receptionist for a nearby dentist doesn't get what all the fuss is about. She says the hot dog stand would be a welcome addition to an area with few food options.
The owner of Express Grill could not be reached for comment.
A spokesman for local alderman Danny Solis says the office is "pulling strings" with city departments to resolve the hot dog issue. But he declined to say if the alderman wanted to stop construction of the restaurant.
The issue will be aired-out on Monday night during a community meeting.
