President-elect Barack Obama is scheduled to meet President George W. Bush today at the White House. They’re expected to begin the conversations that will be critical to a smooth transition between presidents. Talk about a huge learning curve—as probably anyone who’s worked in the president’s office will tell you, it’s not like any other job in the world.

Sam Skinner is a Chicagoan who served as George Herbert W. Bush’s first Secretary of Transportation, and in December 1991, he became Chief of Staff. Skinner joins us by phone to tell us more about what’s happening behind the scenes.
