Fritchey Says Emanuel May Want His Congressional Seat Back

At the Fifth District forum, one of the candidates revealed he'd talked with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel about the future of the congressional seat. There have been rumors that Emanuel may want his Congressional seat back once his stint as as chief of staff is over. In response to a question, Illinois State Representative John Fritchey said he spoke to Emanuel shortly after the former congressman accepted the White House position.

FRITCHEY: At that time he had commented to me that he may be interested in running one day again for the seat. I told him that should I be fortunate enough to run and should I be fortunate enough to win the seat, I would look forward to campaigning against him.

The White House did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
