Rod Blagojevich's co-defendant, and former chief of staff, is cooperating with federal prosecutors. That's according to a lawyer for John Harris and the federal indictment filed Thursday.
One of Harris' attorneys, Jim Sotos, says his client has been cooperating with the government for some time now. He declined to say what Harris has provided prosecutors, or whether he continues to help them.
Sotos says he does not believe Harris has talked with Blagojevich recently, or at all about his cooperation with prosecutors.
Harris faces a single charge of wire fraud - stemming from a November 7th phone conversation that included Harris, Blagojevich and an unnamed "Advisor A." They allegedly talked about the "financial benefits" the then-governor could request in exchange for appointing an unnamed "Senate Candidate B" to fill the state's vacancy in the U.S. Senate.
Sotos - Harris' attorney - says his client acknowledges he made "inappropriate comments" during the conversation.
