Gov. Quinn and Attorney General Lisa Madigan. (WBEZ/Mike Rhee)
No harsh campaign rhetoric yet from Illinois Governor Pat Quinn or Attorney General Lisa Madigan. For now, the two potential opponents in next year's governor's race are playing nice.
Both Quinn and Madigan appeared together at a bill signing in Chicago. For a few minutes, the attention turned to Madigan's rumored run for Quinn's office in 2010. When asked how she thought the governor was doing, Madigan said "things are going much better" compared to under the former governor.
MADIGAN: But in terms of my aspirations and the governor's aspirations, we'll probably be making those decisions later on.
Madigan backed away from the mic. Then, Governor Quinn answered the next question with his arm around the attorney general.
QUINN: I would say this, we believe in the common good, Lisa and I, we're into that. And I think the people of Illinois believe in that.
Later, Madigan restated her reluctantance to support Governor Quinn's proposed income tax hike.
