Governor Pat Quinn Renews University of Illinois Resignation Calls

Bookmark and Share Share

Governor Pat Quinn is renewing his call for University of Illinois trustees to resign.

A commission examining the admissions process at the school recommended all U of I trustees step down. But only three have offered their resignations so far.

Still, Quinn says he expects a new board to be in place by next month.

QUINN: I think it's better for everyone for the trustees to understand that putting the university's interests first is all of our concern, and individual interests should yield to the university's interest.

One U of I trustee refusing to step down is Frances Carroll. She says trustees are being pressured to resign because they banned a controversial school mascot, Chief Illiniwek, from performing at athletic events.
