Illinois Governor Pat Quinn Thursday shook up the board that oversees the Illinois Tollway.
Six-year Tollway Board Chair John Mitola resigned Wednesday (both sides insist it was voluntary) and was quickly replaced by Paula Wolff, a planning expert and former president of Governor's State University.
WOLFF: I'm afraid everytime I hear about congestion on the toll[ways], it's going to give me heartburn, but that's - I think - the way you want your chair to feel.
Wolff immediately takes over the board. She's joined by two other new members, Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner, and former Waukegan Mayor Bill Morris.
MORRIS: The most important part of what we have to do is make sure that people really believe they're getting an honest bit of government service for what they pay for the tollway.
The tollway's been riddled with management turnover in the past year. And plans for tollway construction were mentioned in the federal indictment of former Governor Rod Blagojevich, who allegedly tried to pressure construction company executives into donating to his campaign. That project remains on hold.
