Some top Illinois officials turned a public task force meeting investigating Burr Oak Cemetery into a shouting match.
Much of the shouting came from Illinois Representative Ken Dunkin.
DUNKIN: And here you are, your own staff, I have two sheets of your staff's testimony that speaks to calls and complaints that went to your own agency.
Dunkin was talking to Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes, whose office oversees some of the finances of cemeteries in the state. The typically reserved Hynes bristled at Dunkin's comments.
HYNES: Representative, if I may address your baseless allegations.
DUNKIN: Of course it's baseless.
HYNES: May I, please?
PATRICIA BROWN HOLMES: Gentlemen, we're going to stick to questions and answers.
Hynes told the panel its not his agency's job to police cemeteries and there needs to be more regulations of the industry.
Earlier this week, four former Burr Oak employees pleaded not guilty to desecrating human remains at the cemetery.
