Sheriff Dart May Appeal Judge's Craiglist Ruling
Produced by Tony Arnold on Thursday, October 22, 2009

The web site Craigslist may be taken back to court. That's after a lawsuit filed by Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart was dismissed.
A federal judge ruled in favor of Craigslist, writing in his decision the web site is not responsible for the content of its classifieds. Instead, he says it's the people who post the content who should be held accountable.
Sheriff Tom Dart sued the web site over its Adult Services section, where he says users post ads for prostitution, often in code. Dart spokesman Steve Patterson says the judge didn't address the sheriff's main concern in his ruling.
PATTERSON: We were asking the judge to look at whether Craigslist, knowingly facilitating a crime, is creating a public nuisance. Not unlike a drug house in a neighborhood.
Patterson says the sheriff may appeal the judge's decision.
When Dart filed his lawsuit, Craigslist made a few changes to its Adult Services policy, but Patterson says they weren't enough.

Dart could care less about what thingscost taxpayers. Hookers aren't hurting anyone. Like George Carlin said, selling is legal, and screwing is legal, s why isnt selling screwing legal? Maybe he needs to focus on REAL crime, instead of something safe and sound, so he don't have to deal with REAL criminals. This guy is another one that needs to be voted out and someone with 1/2 a brain to replace him
