Grades are in… Illinois is releasing test scores for every school in the state today.
Elementary school students took the ISAT exam and high schoolers took the Prairie State Achievement Exam last spring. Schools needed to get 70 percent of their students to meet standards on the tests in order to avoid sanctions under the federal No Child Left Behind Act. More than 1,500 Illinois schools failed to do that.
Elementary school scores inched up in most grades and subjects.
High schoolers struggled in math and science. In those subjects, students posted lower scores than they have in at least six years. Just around half of the state’s high school students meet standards in math and science.
