Illinois GOP Chair Talks Impact of Elections Out East

The chair of Illinois' Republican Party is weighing in on Tuesday night's victories for the GOP in Virginia and New Jersey.
State GOP Chair Pat Brady says he thinks the good headlines for Republicans out East will raise party excitement and boost fundraising in Illinois. But Brady's still trying to downplay expectations. Asked if the Blagojevich scandal and state budget troubles mean the 2010 election is the Republicans' to lose...
BRADY: No, it's a blue state. Let's be realistic. We haven't won anything in seven years. So it's not ours to lose at all. I think they've created a great opportunity for us.
Brady and the state party are hosting a fundraiser/debate Thursday with the seven announced Republican candidates for governor. He says he expects a substantive discussion of the issues, but there'll be a microphone turn-off switch if things get too rowdy.
