Sen. Durbin Outlines Strategy for Senate Health Care Bill

Abortion and the public option took center stage yesterday as pundits, politicians and citizens dissected the health care bill passed by the House over the weekend. For the moment, the official debate on Capitol Hill is on pause, while Senate Democrats wait for the Congressional Budget Office to analyze their version of an overhaul to our nation’s health care system. Majority Leader Harry Reid says the Senate will pass a bill, one that includes a public option. But the chatter around the House bill could prove telling for the upcoming Senate debate. For a better sense of what’s ahead in the upper house, we turn to Illinois’ senior Senator, Majority Whip Dick Durbin.
