Chicago Budget Hearings to Wrap Up

Chicago City Council members are scheduled to hold their final day of budget hearings today.
For the last two weeks, officials with each city department have been testifying before aldermen. They've discussed everything from giving preferential seats to Chicagoans at Millenium Park events, to changing the zoning map for drivers with parking stickers.
Today, the law department will wrap up the hearings.
It's all part of the routine for aldermen, who are being asked by Mayor Richard Daley to approve his plan to fill a $520 milllion budget hole. Daley wants to dip into the city's reserves to help fill that gap.
The budget process continues next week, when the full council is scheduled to discuss it.
