Daley Takes on Medical Examiner Over Michael Scott

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is strongly criticizing the Cook County Medical Examiner today. That comes after the death of Chicago School Board President Michael Scott.

It didn't take Cook County Medical Examiner Nancy Jones long to state publicly that Michael Scott died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police found his body early Monday morning along the Chicago River and officers are still conducting their investigation.

Today, Daley took Jones to task for holding a news conference a day after she publicly released her findings.

DALEY: You know, enough of the medical examiner. Let's stop this. You want 15 minutes of fame. They gave it to you.

Daley also defended police for continuing their investigation.

DALEY: It's for the family's sake, not for the medical examiner. It's for the family's sake. They have families and they want a thorough investigation.

When asked if Scott's death would affect his political career, the mayor grew visibly angry and abruptly ended the news conference.
