6th District
After 32 years representing the 6th District, Congressman Henry Hyde retired and endorsed fellow Republican Peter Roskam, who would win the 2006 election. The 6th District includes O’Hare Airport and its western suburban areas, located mostly in DuPage County. It has become less adamantly Republican over the years. In 2004, 53 percent of the district voted for President George W. Bush versus 47 percent for John Kerry.
