8th District
Democratic Congresswoman Melissa Bean has represented the 8th District since winning the seat in 2004 against longtime incumbent Republican Phil Crane. The district comprises growing communities to the north and northwest of Chicago, including western Lake County and half of McHenry County. Historically “one of the most Republican places in the nation,” the district has moved toward the Democrats. and 44 percent voted for John Kerry.
