Democratic Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. has represented the 2nd District since he was elected in December 1995 special election. The district boundaries include most of Chicago’s former industrial area on the South Side, Comiskey Park, suburbs to the south and Jackson Park to the north. The district is considered “one of the most Democratic in the nation.” Only 17 percent of residents voted for George W. Bush in 2000 and only 16 percent voted for him in 2004. Congressman Jackson is running unopposed on the primary ballot.
