Democratic Congressman Rahm Emanuel was elected to the House in 2002 and has since served the 5th District. The district covers part of Chicago’s North Side, includes Old Town, Lincoln Park and Wrigley Field, and runs along the lakefront to the suburbs south of O’Hare Airport. It is considered a “solidly Democratic district.” Sixty-seven percent of residents voted for John Kerry in 2004 against 33 percent for President George W. Bush.
