UE Workers Who Occupied Republic Windows and Doors Factory to Speak

In December, 250 laid off workers on Goose Island in Chicago sat down in their factory to demand the wages owed to them by their former employer.
They demanded that Bank of America, which held the line of credit for the Republic Windows and Doors company, lend a small amount of the $25 billion they had received in bail out money to the company to cover payroll for all legally owed severance and vacation under the Warren Act. Their fight became a national symbol of the plight of working people in the economic crisis.
The program will include stories from UE workers, a video by the Republic Workers UE Local 1110; Q&A moderated by Fran Tobin, Jobs with Justice; and a reception to follow.
