The History of Architecture and Culture on 63rd Street
Tuesday, August 19, 2008 @ 6:00 p.m.

Architectural critic and Chicago city planner Lee Bey and artist Theaster Gates present an overview of the structures and cultural institutions that made the Woodlawn neighborhood a vibrant hub from the 1950s to the 1980s. The discussion will also address past and present renewal projects that include the creative community. This lecture corresponds with a series of lectures held in 2008 at the University of Chicago and the Experimental Station addressing issues of urban renewal through art intervention and public practice.

This event is held in conjunction with the American Art American City program initiated by the Terra Foundation for American Art.
