Donors Forum is Illinois' only association of grantmakers and nonprofits of all kinds. Its Annual Luncheon is widely regarded as the state's premier networking and educational event for philanthropic and nonprofit leaders and practitioners. This year, it was open to the public for the first time in its 38-year history. More than 630 grantmakers, nonprofits, advisers, and others gathered to hear keynote speaker Paul Schmitz, president and CEO of Public Allies, member of the White House Council for Community Solutions, and author of the new book Everyone Leads: Building Leadership from the Community Up. Schmitz speaks on community leadership, a topic central to Donors Forum's purpose, which is to leverage the collective leadership, expertise, and influence of philanthropy and nonprofits to improve lives and strengthen communities in Illinois. He was introduced by Valerie S. Lies, Donors Forum's president and CEO.

Recorded Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
