Asian carp: Are they really out there?

December 2, 2009

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says it's going all-out to fight the advancing Asian carp. This week they're poisoning almost six miles of a suburban canal to stop the fish from swimming upstream. One of the most interesting parts of the ongoing Asian carp boondoggle is the science being used to find the invasive fish. I had the chance to talk to The Nature Conservancy's Lindsay Chadderton about what DNA testing actually tracks - and whether or not he expects to find Asian carp in the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal this week. tnc lindsay
