Listen to Steve Edwards interview Roland Burris on Afternoon Shift

Roland Burris made lots of hackles rise when he accepted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s appointment to Barack Obama’s vacant senate seat. After all, that’s the same seat Blagojevich was accused (and later convicted) of trying to sell. But instead of backing down, Burris fought to keep his position—even if it meant incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

Friday on the Afternoon Shift, Steve Edwards sat down with former Sen. Burris to talk about his time in the Senate, find out what he’s up to now and get his reaction on the conviction and sentencing of Rod Blagojevich.
