Fans of the late Dick Buckley, WBEZ’s longtime jazz host, can now take home a piece of his Jazz collection. Next month Leslie Hindman Auctioneers will sell Buckley’s personal collection, which includes over 8,000 Jazz LPs, 45s, 78s, EPs, as well as mixed tapes and CDs. Also included in the sale are books and broadcasts of his radio programs. Buckley listeners will remember that the conceit of his show was playing his personal collection, so these are some of the same items he played on the radio.
Buckley, who died at the age of 85 on July 22, 2010 was a radio deejay in Chicago for over 50 years. He was best known for his weekend radio show, playing "good ol' good ones" on Chicago Public Radio. After 31 years at WBEZ, Buckley retired from the airwaves in 2008, with his last show airing on July 27, 2008.
The auction will take place live on Thursday, February 17, at 5 p.m.
