There was a lot of news this week coming out of Cook County government. Preckwinkle accepted Stroger aides' resignations, outlined budget needs and we saw County hospital officials are getting big raises. But past those stories, I noticed something from the press conference with new President Toni Preckwinkle. No longer did she have her patented royal blue suit, but she had upgraded to a more polished, more stylish black pin-stripe suit.
Now before you get all higher than though and tell me that you can't believe I'm not focusing on the issues, this is a good thing. I have gone back and forth about whether or not she should upgrade the ole' wardrobe for her presidency. This gives a distinguished look, as opposed to the librarian look. This could mean big things for Cook County government. Mark my words*.
Image is everything. Take, for example, our station-issued cameras:
This was a still shot, no real action. Maybe those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
*I have no idea if this is indeed a new suit.
