Pull up a chair, everyone. I want to tell you about two beautiful endeavors focused on gathering and giving, albeit in different ways. One's intended for the grown-up table. And one for the kid/family crowd.
The first is a new website and magazine called Kinfolk. Their manifesto says it best:
Kinfolk is a growing community of artists with a shared interest in small gatherings. We recognize that there is something about a table shared by friends, not just a wedding or once-a-year holiday extravaganza, that anchors our relationships and energizes us. We have come together to create Kinfolk as our collaborative way of advocating the natural approach to entertaining that we love.
Here's their website. I highly recommend the short "about us" video that you'll see front and center. It radiates warmth and loveliness.
And then there's Milk + Bookies.
Those of you with young children will really want to check this out. Trust me. And be sure to look at their birthday party concept. These guys just might single-handedly reverse the over-the-top birthday party trend. (Insert collective sigh of relief here.)
Kids who attend a Milk + Bookies birthday party don't just leave with a goody bag-- they leave FEELING good.
Here's their site (and again, be sure to watch the "about us" 1-minute video on the home page.)
See you all back here Monday,
p.s. hi and high five to my friends Heidi Lindelof and Ali Dejohn for (respectively) being one of the women behind Milk + Bookies, and being the woman behind The Makerie and introducing me to Kinfolk.
