Once again, the folks at American Express (which owns Food & Wine Magazine) kindly asked me to be the moderator for their annual Restaurant Trade Program. It's an industry-only event, embedded within the larger, consumer-friendly Food & Wine Classic at Aspen, which brings together the familiar faces and talents from the magazine - along with all of its advertisers and the resulting captive audience - and sets them all down into the bucolic mountain town for three days of wining, dining and schmoozing. This year, I had four really interesting panels to moderate. Topics ranged from how to use social media, to what the best practices are for farm-to-table businesses. You can read more here, if you're interested. The other component is a party for the 10 Best New Chefs that grace the July cover of the magazine. One of them - Michael Sheerin - is the Chef de Cuisine at Blackbird, so I obviously wanted to talk with him. I've taken the liberty to shoot some video of my experience in Aspen this year, from the parties to the Grand Tastings. Hope you enjoy it.
