When gypsy-jazz guitarist Alfonso Ponticelli showed up at the WBEZ studios this morning, some of our producers were surprised to find him with EveryBlock founder Adrian Holovaty in tow. Ponticelli typically performs with bassist Beau Sample, rhythm guitarist Jason Miller and violinist Tony Ballog, who form the band Swing Gitan.
Ponticelli and Holovaty played songs throughout Eight Forty-Eight from their release, Sweet Home. Swing Gitan perform throughout the month of April on Wednesday nights at the Green Mill in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.
