Afternoon Shift

About

A daily conversation about news, culture and ideas.

Apr. 16, 2012

On Monday's Afternoon Shift we talk with a former liberal turned conservative and an atheist turned Catholic who later rejected organized religion. Joel Pollak was a self described "raving Democrat" who changed his mind while at Harvard Law. Eventually he began working for conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart. After Breitbart's untimely death this year, Pollak has maintained the site as editor-in-chief.

Anne Rice made her name as an atheist author of vampire novels. In 1998, more than 20 years into her career, Rice returned to the Catholic Church and even wrote two novels based on the life of Christ. Then in 2010 Rice renounced organized religion stating, "In the name of Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen."

That plus we talk about the eBook price fixing controversy, a cool pool and the latest developments in Mayor Emanuel's infrastructure plan.
