Good morning!

Welcome to this edition of the Morning Drive Podcast! In today’s episode, we'll continue our Race: Out Loud series.

But first, some news:

Illinois Republicans are moving forward with their scheduled itinerary in Tampa, Florida despite the one-day delay of Monday’s events at the Republican National Convention.

Featured in the podcast:

In many African American neighborhoods in Chicago, tension simmers between black customers and Arab corner store owners. The tension is often around this stereotype: outsiders doing business in low-income neighborhoods. But who are the Middle Eastern immigrants who set up shop in black communities, where their corner stores thrive, in part because the areas lack grocery stores.  One Arab businessman talks about his relationships with his customers, and Chicago.

And your WEATHER for today: Mostly sunny, patchy fog early in the morning...especially in the outer suburbs. Highs in the upper 70s to around 80 - some winds in the morning but nice all day. Tonight, clear, lows in the mid to upper 50s except in the lower 60s downtown. Wednesday, mostly sunny, highs in the lower 80s. Wednesday night, mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 60s except upper 60s downtown.

Music in today's podcast brought to you by Duran Duran - they're scheduled to play at Ravinia this Wednesday
