Daley Plaza was filled with people in red shirts Monday, carrying signs that read "Fair Contract Now" and "Parents and Teachers United." Parents, teachers and labor groups joined in support of the Chicago Teachers Union in its testy negotiations with Chicago Public Schools.   

Illinois Democrats take center stage this week at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. For delegate Moises Garcia, it's a first and one that brings a lot of satisfaction.

 


And your WEATHER for today: Scattered thunderstorms early this morning then becoming partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for the remainder of the day. Highs in the upper 80s except lower 80s near the lake. Some winds throughout the day. Then tonight, partly cloudy, lows near 70 except lower 70s downtown.


Wednesday, partly sunny, chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning. Then showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon, highs in the upper 80s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent. Wednesday night, partly cloudy in the evening then clearing, lows in the lower 60s except mid 60s downtown.
