I recently discovered the music lover's website Grooveshark. I'm guessing many of you have too. It's pretty cool, right? I'm just getting familiar with all the features, but one thing I was immediately drawn to is the ability to create and share playlists. Which got me thinking.

I believe it is now time that we create an official Mission Amy K.R. soundtrack.

So: Imagine watching yourself on a big screen...just living...going about your day...what music is playing? What would the soundtrack of your life be? That's how I want to approach this.

It's hard to believe it's been seven months since we started meeting here like this and kicked off what I'd hoped would evolve into "a lively, ongoing dialogue about media issues." I'm happy to say it's become all that and more.

Now it's time for another big step forward for blogs.vocalo.org: Beginning next week, three new bloggers will appear on this site, joining a lineup that includes Lee Bey, Steve Dolinsky, Amy Krouse Rosenthal and yours truly.

Kitty Moon on Clark and Thome has been shuttered for many a--well, moon--now. But they left the letters behind; an inviting gold on a field of blue. Why these buildings caught my eye, I do not know. But it caused me to take a look at the building and the two neighboring storefronts on Clark Street

What is it with broadcasters and their hair? As a proud member of what Larry David likes to call "the bald community," I'm baffled by the obsession so many Chicago radio and television people have on the subject of hair. Over the weekend, I came across no fewer than four posts relating to hair -- good, bad and horrifying -- on the blogs of local broadcast personalities. I've excerpted the relevant passages below. Green City Market 10th Annual Chef's BBQ

Tickets went on sale earlier this week for the much-anticipated 10th annual Green City Market Chef BBQ. The picnic will be held in Lincoln Park on Thursday, July 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and while the summer may still seem far away, tickets have sold out quickly in the past. This year, the event will showcase the talents of 80 chefs (up from 65 last year) all using ingredients from the market. Participating restaurants include the crew from Avec and Blackbird, Coco Pazzo, Frontera Grill, Blue 13, mk, NAHA, Piccolo Sogno, Purple Pig, Spiaggia, Smoque BBQ, The Girl And The Goat, Sprout and more. Locally made beers, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks will also be served. Tickets are available online, at all Illinois Spice House locations and at the information table of the Green City Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Tickets are $100 for adults, including all food and beverages, and $25 for children ages 2-12 (children's tickets are not available online and can be purchased through the Green City Market's office).
