Today marks the 129th anniversary of the birth of Minna Everleigh. Minna and her sister Ada were the proprietors of Club Everleigh in the heart of Chicago’s Red Light District, also called the Levee.
Journalist Karen Abbot is the author of the new book Sin in the Second City. It chronicles the lives of the Everleigh sisters, and explores the social climate of the time that allowed for Club Everleigh to thrive, and which ultimately led to its demise.
