Global Activism: Educating Tibetan Girls

Each Thursday we hear about an individual who’s decided to work to make the world a better place. Asang and Nancy Floy are the co-founders of the Tibet Girls School, which opened in 2008 in Yushu, located in eastern Tibet. The school offers educational opportunities for nomad  girls. Most young women living in eastern Tibet do not get the chance to attend school. Many are unable to read and write. Access to healthcare is limited and infant mortality rates are among the highest in the country. Asang grew up in Tibet and fled the country nearly a decade ago.
