The Swell Season's Sound Opinions performance at Lincoln Hall
August 19, 2010
Last Thursday Sound Opinions put on a mind-blowing event- they screened the movie Once then had the stars of that film (Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová aka The Swell Season) perform their Oscar-winning song immediately following. As the band explained, they did a similar performance for Barbra Streisand and a few of her friends- no big deal. If you're not close friends with Babs AND weren't lucky enough to be inside Lincoln Hall last week, we have video of their entire performance to share with you.
They started things off with "Lies."
Next they played "Low Rising" off their new album Strict Joy
Then Mark©ta took over guitar duties for "If You Want Me."
The penultimate tune was the winner of the Best Song Oscar, "Falling Slowly."
They closed the show with a rollicking cover of Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere."
