A few more tasty morsels from Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands are considered BC's "other" wine region next to the more popular Okanagan Valley (which is a four hour drive North of Vancouver).‚  Ten years ago, there were only seven licensed wineries on the Wine Islands and today there are 35.‚  These areas comprise the warmest growing region in Canada. The land yields aromatic wines reminiscent of northern Europe.‚  The region also boasts near-perfect conditions for growing premium quality cider apples. The Cowichan Valley - 45 minutes north of Victoria - mirrors the climate and soil conditions of the famous cider-growing regions of England and France. I wish we had time to visit there, because the list of places I had to get to included some very tempting eating and drinking options.
