There is a myth about nonprofits and how the percentage of their overhead, or administrative costs, reflects how effective they are. Many donors, and even grantmakers and the nonprofits themselves, believe that the lower the percentage, the more effective the nonprofit. But effectiveness has much more to do with the actual impact upon people and communities. On March 12, 2013, Donors Forum, a statewide association of funders, nonprofits, and advisors, will tackle this topic -- including the funding nonprofits need in order to be effective -- through an event titled Real Talk About Real Costs.
