The commander of American and Allied forces in Afghanistan began two days of testimonies before congress today. General David Petraeus called the gains fragile and reversible, but he said the US had stopped the Taliban momentum. Petraeus says the US goal of handing over security responsibility is on track, but warns against cutting resources to Afghanistan. We’ll get an update on Afghanistan from Ahmed Rashid, author of the bestselling book Taliban.
