Alderman-elect Ameya Pawar was elected to serve the 47th Ward in February's municipal election.

One of the new faces on City Council this Spring will be Ameya Pawar. After incumbent Eugene Schulter dropped out of the race, Pawar defeated three other candidates to win February’s election. It was a surprise upset in the 47th Ward and a history-making moment: Pawar will be the first Indian-American alderman on the council.

Alderman-elect Pawar spoke to Eight Forty-Eight to discuss what he’s been doing to prepare for his freshman year at City Hall.
