The City of Chicago will honor Alligator Records' 40th Anniversary with a celebration on Sunday, June 12, 2011.
It’s tough enough for a small business to survive four decades. When that business is a record label – it is almost unheard of. But Bruce Iglauer has defied the odds. His Alligator Records is celebrating 40 years of crankin’ out the blues.
Iglauer sat down with Eight Forty-Eight and shared stories spanning the label’s history. The first is about where it all began back in 1970 - at a bar called Florence’s on Chicago’s West Side.
