Ben Vereen spoke with WBEZ's Richard Steele about living in Chicago during the '90s.

Ben Vereen is perhaps best known for his stage roles – like in Jesus Christ Superstar and Wicked. The actor, singer and dancer also made a splash in Roots and Star Trek: The Next Generation. But less widely known is the fact that he lived in Chicago in the '90s.

He recently came to Chicago to speak at the American Diabetes Association’s Expo with the diabetes awareness organization S.T.A.N.D.  He also spoke with WBEZ’s Richard Steele while he was in town. They began by talking about some of Ben Vereen’s local connections, including his friendship with the founder of Christ Universal Temple, a South Side megachurch.
