May 18, 2011
(Jim Newberry)
Chicago musician Bucky Halker has produced a four-CD series on Illinois folk music.
Chicagoan Bucky Halker thinks there’s more to American folk music than Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly. That’s why his new compilation, Folk Songs of Illinois #4, features everything from local spins on traditional Chinese music and Native American drumming to polka and klezmer. He discusses his latest effort with Jerome and Radio M host Tony Sarabia.
Track list:
HenanFolk Tune – Betti Xiang
Balad El Mahbub – Duzan Ensemble
El Corrido de Texas – Silvano Ramos & Daniel Ramirez
