In Casablanca, women hold posters of Morocco's King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan flag to celebrate their new constitution.

The Monarchy of King Mohamed VI of Morocco put a new constitution up for a vote on July 1st. The overwhelming approved document puts forth a vision of a new Morocco that Paul Silverstein calls a “Neo-liberal utopian space where politics is either illegitimate or simply unnecessary”.

Silverstein is Professor of Anthropology at Reed College. His article “Weighing Morocco’s New Constitution” is at the Middle East Research and information project website. He tells us about Morocco's interesting response to the "Arab Spring."
