Eight Forty-Eight heard from a soldier who joined the army just weeks before the 9/11 attacks.

September 11th shaped the way Americans live in very different ways. For many members of the armed services, that day meant that it was time to gear up for war.

Nick Fox was one week into his freshman year of college on September 11, 2001, and had signed a contract only one week earlier promising to join the army after graduation. He then spent his college years watching a war he would soon join.

A correction has been made to this story: Nick Fox was described as an Army Ranger but should instead be referred to as an Army Sapper.
