Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie is pressured by Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly during Sunday's loss.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was in a pretty good groove; that was until he broke his thumb. The offense felt balanced, the team was riding a five-game winning streak and the table seemed set for backup quarterback Caleb Hanie. However, the results were mixed. The first quarter looked bleak but things got better; the defense kept things tight but it was not enough. The team fell to the Oakland Raiders, who won 25-20. The loss had folks wondering about the team's potential wild-card spot and what the rest of the season looked like for the Bears. And while on the subject of seasons, it looked like there would actually be NBA action this year. For more on both these stories, Eight Forty-Eight turned to Cheryl Raye-Stout.
