The Arab League wants a joint Arab-UN peacekeeping mission to end the 11-month conflict in Syria. Damascus "categorically rejected" the resolution. The League's move comes one week after Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that called for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step aside. Rashid Khalidi, Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, tells Worldview what he sees as the next steps for Syria.
