Curtis White, author of the widely acclaimed The Middle Mind: Why Americans Don't Think for Themselves, presented his newest book, The Barbaric Heart: Faith, Money, and the Crisis of Nature. 

In The Barbaric Heart, White argues that the same forms of crony capitalism and managerial technocracy that created the environmental crisis in the first place will not help to resolve it.  With trademark wit, he contends that the solution might very well come from such unexpected sectors as the arts, religion, and the realm of moral imagination.
